Earthquake Warning: New Technology to Reduce a Harmful Threat

We now have the technology to provide warnings before earthquakes, giving people enough time to take cover under a sturdy table, isolate hazardous machinery and chemicals at work, and even slow and stop trains, thereby reducing damage and injuries. Warnings are now being generated in California, and with new smartphone technology will soon be available around the world.
