Mental Distress in the Rural U.S.: Exploring Social Experiences and Creating Pragmatic Interventions

Our recent election brought attention to entrenched poverty in the rural U.S.--poverty centrally linked to rural mental health disparities. Claire Snell-Rood, Ph.D., will use her perspective as a medical anthropologist to describe the social and cultural factors shaping how rural women in Appalachia experience depression and community, and the engaged efforts to build appropriate, sustainable treatment options.
