LeAD Lights: A Hands-on Demonstration for kids

10:00-11:00 am    Remove
254 Sutardja Dai Hall

Come see how a line drawn with pencil "lead" can complete a circuit that will turn on an LED light. We'll use graphite lines drawn on paper, alligator clips and a battery to change an LED light from off, to dim, to fully on. We'll also explain, using a 3-D model of graphite, how the carbon in graphite is bonded, and how graphite conducts electricity. Get your Science@Cal passport stamped here!
