Improving Immigrant-Health Research Through Community Engagement: A Case Study from San Francisco's Chinatown District

11:00 am-12:00 pm    Add
109 Dwinelle Hall

The importance of conducting research with, rather than on, communities is increasingly recognized. This presentation shows how a partnership between the School of Public Health/Labor Occupational Health Program, Chinese Progressive Association, UCSF, and the San Francisco Health Department studied and addressed the health of Chinatown restaurant workers. Outcomes, including passage of one of the country's first wage-theft laws, are discussed.
